Both giants suffered devastating exits in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), missing out on direct qualification to the World Cup. Banyana Banyana fell 2-1 to tournament hosts Morocco, while Nigeria’s Super Falcons were stunned 1-0 by a resilient Cameroon side.
Having stumbled at the automatic qualification hurdle, both nations must now navigate the arduous repechage route.
