Following Orbit College’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the club is braced to lose one of its most promising young talents, with several Betway Premiership clubs actively monitoring 19-year-old goalkeeper Fanele Mngomezulu.
According to a source close to the situation speaking to The African Chronicle, Durban-based outfit AmaZulu FC has emerged as a key suitor for the young shot-stopper, who was born in 2007. Mngomezulu has already spent time with Usuthu and featured in a recent friendly game against ABC Motsepe League side Mvoti FC.
“He is at AmaZulu FC. He played in a friendly match on Friday against Mvoti FC,” the source confirmed. “He is 19 years old, born in 2007. He is at AmaZulu now, but we are waiting for the outcome because there are other teams interested in him.”
The source added that Mngomezulu’s performance in the friendly fixture caught the attention of scouts from rival top-flight teams who were in attendance:
“I can’t mention the teams at the moment, but they are Betway Premiership teams. The friendly game against the ABC Motsepe side allowed other teams to see him during that match, and they are interested in him.”

Attempts to reach AmaZulu FC official representatives for comment were unsuccessful prior to publication.
Mngomezulu is a product of the Umkhanyakude Football Academy in KwaZulu-Natal under the guidance of coach Bheki Mdletshe—the same grassroots development system that produced defender Mbekezeli “TLB” Mbokazi and Zanathi Mbokazi.
